About Michael

Michael is happily working as a full-time research engineer at Penn State's Applied Research Lab. He often jokes that he has the weirdest job in the world. He enjoys devoting his time and attention to a variety of activities and intellectual pursuits. He currently lives in the Washington DC/NOVA area.

Socially, he organizes a monthly Board Game and Puzzle night. Previously, he participated in TOOT-IN-COMMON a State College, flute choir and was an founding member of Centre Social Dance a registered 501(c)(3) organization. He enjoys cooking and baking, fixing cars, and is an avid hiker.

Academically, Michael holds a Masters of Science in Computer Science from Penn State University. The results of this research were presented at the Fall 2021 NDIA USW conference. Previously, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and concentrated and carried out research in Cognitive Science at Carleton College. The results of this research were presented at the Psyconomics conference in Fall of 2015.

Professionally, Michael has experience developing complex undersea systems. He was one of the key individuals developing the Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture (UMAA) Standard and was the lead engineer responsible for the primary reference implementation of the standard. He serves in a strategic software planning and oversight role at the US Navy's premier undersea operations organization.
